HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!

Jack is now 53, but who's counting?

Melissa, baby Shawn, and Peggy joined me in celebrating Jack's birthday at Wood Ranch, one of Jack's favorite restaurants in Anaheim Hills. It was the baby's first venture out to a restaurant, and he received "oohs" and "ahhs" from not only our server, but from other diners. He sat in his car seat suspended in a sling on a cart, something I hadn't seen before, but it pulled right up to the table and Shawn took in all the sights and sounds, then fell asleep. Jack's biggest birthday surprise was from Chris. He's flying Jack out to Indianapolis for the DCI (Drum & Bugle Corps International) Championships on Fri, Aug 8th and Jack comes back on Sun, Aug 10th. It will be a quick trip, but Chris and Jack have made this a tradition of theirs the last couple years. They went to the Rose Bowl last year, and now that DCI has decided to anchor the championships in Indianapolis, Chris knew Jack would enjoy going out there this year. For Father's Day, Chris gave Jack a pair of binoculars, so he can try them out at DCI.
