We jumped in the car this morning and drove to Brace Canyon Park in Burbank, the site of Aisling, Xander and Brian's birthday party! Aisling turned four in late April, and Xander will be two in late May. Brian's 32nd birthday is this coming Tuesday. Hard to believe he's that old, shoot, it's hard to believe Aisling and Xander are this old already! Big Shawn had to work, so Jack and I took little Shawn to the party, and once he saw the bounce house, that's all she wrote. He went in first with Jack and joined Aisling and Brian already inside. Shawn had such a great time, especially when he saw other adults come into the bounce house and jump around with the kids - what cool adults they were to do that! The theme of the party was Yo-Gabba-Gabba - I have no idea what that even is, but apparently it's a show that kids like on the Disney Channel.

Now I'm curious to see what it's all about. Jenny made a three-tiered theme cake which I'm told was very good (I didn't have any, but it looked good!). Shawn looked on as Aisling opened her "girlie presents", and at one time was seen with a Barbie doll in his hand, but he quickly gave that up, much to Jack's delight. Shawn had fun on the swings and on the big playground they had there, but he kept going back to the bounce house. We had a great lunch of fruit, sandwiches and chips - Shawn loved the ham, pineapple and a few chips. He drank his share of grape apple juice too. We were all expecting to have to clean out the bounce house after the kids went back in after lunch, but all went well, no accidents. Aunt Cheryl bought Shawn a special book written by an author who works heavily with foster children. It's called "The Wish", and it's about some animals that need to find a home with someone

that loves them, hence the link to foster children who also need homes with someone to love them, we'll read that tonight before he goes to bed. Terry was telling me some of the things that he did while on his recent trip to Italy, he said everyone should go to Italy at least once in their lifetime, it's on my Bucket List. But before Italy, I want to go to Ireland. Jack went some years ago and was so impressed with the country and its people, that when he came back from that trip, he said that one day he'd like to take me there, and we will do that, someday. Back to the party - it was

a great day at the park, we had tables in the shade and there was a great breeze. Shawn nodded off in the car and by the time we got home, he and Jack were ready to go back out to the store to buy fixings for Beef Stroganoff tonight and a big pot of chili for tomorrow. Thanks to Brian and Jenny for another great party!
