WE SPENT A FEW HOURS AT ST. JUDE TONIGHT....

Melissa had a 3:15 appointment today - she's 2 centimeters dilated, which means that her body is getting ready. The doctor wanted to make sure things were going well, so he sent her to St. Jude for a stress test at 6pm. We arrived, waited for a room to be cleaned up for us (1-1/2 hours later, slow cleaners I guess), and she was hooked up to an external baby heartbeat monitor, as well as another monitor for her contractions. She was having consistent contractions every 7 minutes, but she didn't feel any of them - I told her she could be pretty much guaranteed SHE WOULD FEEL THEM at some point - how nice it would be if they were ones you couldn't feel! The doctor then ordered an ultrasound, this was done mainly to check the levels of fluid around the baby, which turned out to be just fine. The baby was moving around a lot, still has some room to kick, but he's definitely in position. So we came home with the baby still on the inside..... Melissa has another appointment on Friday, but anything could happen before then. The nurse told us that since she has an appointment on Friday, and if nothing happens before then, the doctor will probably induce on Friday, so that's all we know for now - I'm starting my vacation today, just in case something happens tomorrow.
