BABY SHAWN LOVES CARROTS!

Baby Shawn has discovered something wonderful - something other than the usual formula in a bottle - he's discovered the wonderful world of food, and in the case of carrots, orange food. He's still quite bewildered in this picture, but right after we snapped this shot, his face took on the look of delight as he obviously wanted more. Melissa has already taught him to keep his hands down while she feeds him, because at first, you can guess where his hands went, in his mouth and food everywhere. She was feeding him while he sat on my lap, and after a few mouthfuls he stopped and turned his head up to look at me, and he had such a look on his face like "thank you so much for giving me something different", and then he went back to eating. I guess you had to be there, but it's on video, so I can watch that over and over again. Here's another picture too that was just too cute to not put on the blog. After he ate he had to put something in his mouth, and the bib just happened to already be in his hand, so why not. Aunt Angie came over to visit and was having a ball with Shawn smiling and making noises, and watched him play with his feet, all these new things he's doing that she gets to see. She gets maternal once every two weeks, so she comes over for her "baby fix" - I think she walks away satisfied every time, how can you not with such a cutie for a great-nephew! The doctor said that babies should start with vegetables before fruit because all babies love fruit and they never have any trouble eating most fruit, so carrots, peas, green beans and sweet potatoes are on the menu for a while. Jack and I went to Monterey for the weekend with our friends, Greg and Lori Haake, to visit our other friends, Carolyn and Doug Starmer, and while we wanted to get away from everything for a while, Baby Shawn's face kept creeping into our minds every now and then, just enough to miss not seeing him for three days. He seemed to have grown just a little bit while we were gone, it seems that way anyway........
