Shawn was TWO YEARS OLD yesterday and we had a great time at Disneyland! First of all, I hadn't been to Disneyland in probably 12 years, and I couldn't recognize it at all, not until I got to the front gate and handed them my ticket. I've missed out on a lot, and I still haven't been to California Adventure yet, some day. OK, back to Shawn's big day - this child was the perfect child to take to Disneyland, and I'm not kidding! We waited in lines for every ride and Shawn was so patient I couldn't believe it. He wasn't cranky, he wasn't whiney, he was just taking everything in and was happy the entire day. He fell asleep in the stroller for
about an hour, and he was up again ready for more. We went on the merry-go-round and he loved his horse, he even patted his head and said, "Nice horsie". Then we went to brunch and he met Tigger and Rafiki, and he showed no fear approaching Rafiki, the monkey from "Lion King". After that, he wouldn't get back in the stroller, he insisted on walking holding on to one of our fingers the rest of the day. He walked around that entire park on his
own two little feet, what a trooper. Then we were off on the train to Toontown where he met Mickey for the first time (watch the short video), couldn't be sweeter than that. Shawn loved Pirates of the Caribbean. There was a long line, but it went faster than we ever thought, and we were in the boat in no time. Shawn liked riding in the boat and the "drops" in the ride didn't even phase him. We then went to Pooh Corner and he just loved seeing all of the
characters there and called them each by name. Shawn and Dad went on the Dumbo ride and he really liked "flying" in the air. Mom and Dad bought Shawn three cars from "Cars", and he insisted on holding onto that bag throughout the day, he wouldn't let it out of his sight. The last ride we went on, which is my personal favorite, was Peter Pan's Flight. Shawn was just fascinated by everything. Oh, and we went on Roger Rabbit's ride and just as we neared the end of the ride, it broke down. We waited about 15 minutes before we were saved by a cast member who let us out of our cars and we walked off the ride onfoot. By the time we got home at 6pm (arrived at 9am), Shawn was pretty pooped, he didn't wake up until 8am the next morning! SHAWN IS NOW TWO YEARS OLD - and on Monday, April 12 he will be in the room for two-year-olds at daycare. That means no more highchairs when eating breakfast and lunch. He'll sit in a chair at a table with the rest of his friends. He was taken to that room for a few hours every day last week to get him used to the changes, and he enjoyed every minute he was in that room with the friends who've had their birthdays before his, and who he is now reunited. WE
MEASURED SHAWN on his second birthday, and he's 35" tall. So if you double that to 70", that means that when he's all grown up, he'll be close to 6' tall, within one or two inches. That's something I heard about back when my kids were two, and the doctor told us that it's a pretty close calculation to use just to see how big they'll get. His dad is 6'4", and his mom is, well, on the short side, so it looks like he's taking after his dad. Happy birthday little man, we love you so much!
