BABY SHAWN IS TWO MONTHS OLD!

Shawn had his two month appointment yesterday and he weighs in at 14 lbs. 5 ozs. He's in the 95th percentile in height and weight which means he's right on track. The doctor asked if his father was tall, and when we told him that his father is 6'4", the doctor confirmed that Shawn too will be tall. So when he's two years old, we'll double his height and get a good idea of just how tall he's going to get. The only thing that marked the day in a negative way was that he had to have three booster shots. He had two shots in one thigh and another shot in the other thigh. He turned red and screamed for about 10 seconds, and then he was just fine. So Shawn is sporting a Charlie Brown band aid on each leg, they matched his outfit. Now that he's two months old, he's now recognizing people, and follows you around the room. He's also smiling and laughing which is so great to see, and he has a habit of laughing in his sleep, which cracks us up at what he can possibly be laughing at when he's only been around for two months - what's so funny? He's sleeping five hours at a time, and we've gotten in the pattern of putting him down at 11:30pm, so that carries him through most of the wee hours of the morning. He only cries when he's hungry, and when he gets up around 5:00am, after his bottle, he goes right back down for a few more hours. Schedules are so important for babies, they need it and they rely on it. Grandpa Jack always has a song to sing for him, from classical to jazz to cartoon theme songs, so Shawn is in for quite a repertoire. He loves to snuggle and he waves his long arms all over the place and has managed to smack each of us at least twice in the face. And he's so strong too. He'll grab onto your finger tight and won't let go. He hasn't discovered his feet yet, and doesn't seem to kick his feet a lot, but his legs are strong and if you hold him up, he has no problem standing on his feet. As Jack has said, and I agree, he has certainly brought a lot of sunshine into our lives.
